Freight class ultimately depends on the applicable NMFC item and its rules. Rate Farm uses the NMFTA 13-tier density scale for its estimate, but it does not have access to the proprietary ClassIT+ commodity database and cannot guarantee the final classification. NMFTA’s published density guidance and 13-sub density breaks are the primary sources for the scale used here.
