These terms cover your use of ratefarmus.com and the Rate Farm shipment-preparation tool (the "Site"). By using the Site, you agree to these terms. This page is written in plain language to be clear about what Rate Farm is and isn't — it's not a substitute for legal advice.
What Rate Farm is
Rate Farm is a shipment-preparation and freight-intelligence tool currently in public beta. It helps you organize shipment information, estimate density-based freight classification, and identify accessorial and Hazmat considerations before you request a freight quote.
What Rate Farm is not
Rate Farm is not a licensed freight broker, is not a carrier, and does not book, arrange, or execute freight transportation on your behalf. Nothing on this Site constitutes a freight quote, a rate guarantee, or a binding shipping document. The Shipment Brief the Site generates is an informational summary, not a Bill of Lading.
Estimates are estimates
Density and freight class figures shown by Rate Farm are estimates based on the information you provide and the current NMFC density-based classification scale. The actual classification a carrier applies can depend on the specific commodity, its handling, stowability, and liability characteristics — factors that density alone doesn't always capture. Verify the applicable NMFC item and final classification with your carrier or broker before booking. Rate Farm does not guarantee that its estimated class will match a carrier's final determination.
Accessorial and pricing considerations
Rate Farm identifies conditions — residential delivery, liftgate needs, limited access, and similar — that commonly affect LTL accessorial charges. These are flagged as considerations to verify, not confirmed carrier charges. Rate Farm does not know or guarantee your final freight price, and nothing on the Site should be treated as a price quote.
Hazmat information
Rate Farm's Hazmat guidance is educational. It helps you organize information (UN/NA number, proper shipping name, hazard class, packing group, and similar) that a carrier may need. Rate Farm does not determine legal Hazmat compliance, does not certify shipments as compliant with hazardous-materials regulations, and is not a substitute for consulting a qualified Hazmat professional, your carrier, or the applicable regulations directly.
Your responsibility
You're responsible for the accuracy of the information you enter into Rate Farm. The quality of any estimate or Shipment Brief depends directly on the accuracy and completeness of what you provide.
Beta status
The Site is in active beta. Features, calculations, and content may change as the product is refined. We aim for accuracy but don't guarantee the Site will be uninterrupted or error-free.
No warranty
The Site and its content are provided "as is," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to accuracy, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Rate Farm is not liable for any decisions made, or costs incurred, based on estimates, classifications, or other information provided by the Site. You remain responsible for verifying shipment information with your carrier or broker before booking.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the Site develops. Continued use of the Site after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
