Rate Farm is built by Jacob Rhoads, drawing on a background in customer service, domestic and international logistics, shipping operations, and warehouse coordination.
The product grew from a practical problem: freight quote requests often leave important details unclear until after the shipment is booked or picked up. Rate Farm focuses on preparing those details earlier — dimensions, weight, estimated density and class, location requirements, and shipment documentation.
What Rate Farm actually does
Rate Farm is a freight-intelligence and shipment-preparation tool. It calculates density, provides a density-based freight class estimate, flags shipment details that may need carrier confirmation, and produces a Shipment Brief that can be shared with a broker or carrier.
What Rate Farm is not
Rate Farm is not a freight broker and does not book or pay for transportation. It does not determine the final freight rate, guarantee an NMFC classification, or determine hazardous-material regulatory compliance. Those decisions remain with the applicable carrier, broker, shipper, and regulatory rules.
Where this is going
Rate Farm is currently in beta. The classification engine, shipment-preparation workflow, and Shipment Brief are active product features, and the site is being updated as classification rules and carrier practices change.
